That's interesting. We also have a 3590 drive attached to two
AS/400's. However, the device is varied on at all times on both
machines. We switch the drive back and forth via a menu on the
LCD
panel of the drive.
We too have a 3590 on two machines. We do not need manual
switching.
But one must be careful that only one of the machines
access the tape at one time. We had a problem with a backup
some time ago because of a ChkTap which was issued from the other
machine.
