John, You could use CHEKR RPGIII or CHECKR RPGIV with a blank, or you might try %len(%trimr(field)) or just %trimr(field). David Morris >>> John Earl <johnearl@toolnet.com> 08/19 2:07 PM >>> Is it possible to scan a string from the right in RPG? I need to find the end of a character string that may have embedded blanks in it. It seems like the best way to do that is to scan from the right for the first non-blank character. Any ideas? jte -- John Earl PowerTech Toolworks johne@toolnet.com 253-858-7388 +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
