That is a very good point.  The GUI is what users want, most users don't
care about the OS as long as their screen looks and feels sharp.  As far as
stability goes, Unix has an excellent GUI system called Xwindows which is as
stable as the system it is running on.  I have worked in Unix shops where
all of the users use Xterminals and Unix workstations and they are content
because everything works well and looks good to boot.  Most of them couldn't
tell you whether they are using PCs or not.
