We have been less than satisfied with EMC2 as a whole. At one time we had
some EMC2 drives that were hooked up to their diagnostic PC. The PC was
to inform EMC2 if the drives detected any internal problems . EMC2 would
then dispatch a CE. We disconnected the drives when we went to our RISC
model. EMC2 never called to ask if there was something wrong or to inform
us that a CE had been dispatched. This is just one example of their poor
support.

=====================================
Hi Tim. I am more interested in the EMC Symmetrix storage units you
mentioned.
We are looking at the EMC enterprise storage unit to consolidate almost
2TB of dasd across multiple systems, including about 400+GB on AS400s.
Their analysis of our environment concluded unbelievable cost savings
for us (and quite frankly, we don't believe that part).
How has your experience been with EMC as a company (support, knowledge
??) and their symmetrix storage units ?
I know in the past, EMC drives were less than stable, when attached to
the AS400.
Anyone elses' thoughts on this would also be greatly appreciated.
Ash.
