CHKOBJ only checks whether the object (not the member) exists or not. CHKOBJ is a generic command which can be used to any type of object (*FILE, *PGM ..etc). But for *FILE object, you can have one or more members. If you want to retreive the member names, you can do it in a CL using RTVMBRD command. Specify *FIRST and do RTVMBRD(*NEXT) in a loop. This way, you can get all the member names. Another approach is to do a DSPFD command with TYPE(*MBRLIST) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE). Direct this to an outfile. Then read the outfile. - Vg +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
