Are you talking about the PC package DBASE? You are looking to replace
something you were doing with this on PC's with something on the 400? I guess
my question is 'What are you doing that are you are trying to replace with a
400 package?'

If you have a custom or package application that performed a certain function
then perhaps there are vendors out there that may fill the ticket. For
example, if you have an Accounts Receivable application then maybe you should
try to find an AS/400 based package that will fill your niche.

If you are looking for something that will let you build databases, set up
referential integrity and access the data then most of the crude fundamentals
are built into OS/400. For easier data maniputation you may want to look at
the SQL package you can purchase for the 400. Some sweet deals are offered on
this for new installations or upgrades. For more intense data entry and
manipulation you may want to look at using consultants to do work for you or
perhaps purchasing language compilers to do the work yourself. The RPG
language seems to be the most popular on the 400.
