In fact, hardware wise, my >PC is proving to be more reliable >than the AS/400! (i am not talking OS here). If you are having that many failures maybe you need to look elswhere for the problem. Were all the drives purchased at the same time ? Is the same component failing each time? Are they in the same cabinet ? Same controller ? It sounds like a problem outside of the drives. Could be there is a borderline power supply in the cabinets causing the failures. Maybe bad utility power. Some UPS's only kick in during brownouts & overvoltage and do not monitor the line very well for harmonic distortion and transients. I once had a PC that had the battery go dead on the motherboard 5 times (about every 3 or 4 weeks) It was under service so it wasn't on my dime but until I insisted that there had to be something wrong with the motherboard they were going to keep coming out and changing the battery. Of course each time they would say "Well I've never seen anything like this before but THIS battery is brand new!" Finally it turned out they were putting the wrong voltage battery in ! So look elsewhere for the problem or see if you can get a different CE in.
