We provide an invoice that includes a single line item for each person that
has worked on the project for the time period. This is a summary line that
indicates the number of hours billed and the hourly rate. However, For each
line item the resource (employee or contractor) must provide a detailed
status of billing by day. We attach a single page per employee to the
invoice. This proves what what we did and gives the client some feedback on
what is going on. This is especially true when we do work off site. I like
to keep billing logs in Lotus organizer. I keep pretty detailed billing
logs that also come in hand when the client has a specific question about
when or what was done in the past. I just do a search through my note pages
and usually can come up with a good answer. The memory ain't what it used
to be, so the billing logs help fill in the gap.

|Booth,
|
|I always include dates and hours in the description portion of the invoice,
|along with the description of services. I have a separate line for each
|date. My clients have expressed their appreciation for as much detail as
|possible. Other vendors often just do a lump sum billing.
