As the saying goes: This is a feature, not a bug.
For native date fields, the default value is the current date. You can
use DDS similar to the following to use a different default:
.....A..........T.Name++++++RLen++TDpB......Functions++++++++++++
A R RFMT
A MYUSADATE L DATFMT(*USA)
A DFT('01/01/0001')
A MYISODATE L DATFMT(*ISO)
A DFT('0001-01-01')
The above sets the default date to low values; zeros is not a valid
date.
