YUP it can be done. Typically you
Mount the NEW DRIVE in a spare hole
                OR
1. Remove a GOOD DRIVE and insert the NEW DRIVE
2. IPL to DST or POWER-UP the EXTERNAL DASD
3. Go into DST and under disk recovery(sorry I can't remember where
exactly) there will be an option to do the copy.
4. When the copy completes the OLD DASD will be NON-CFG'd and the NEW
DRIVE will have the OLD DRIVE's CFG INFO and DATA
5. POWER DOWN the system or EXTERNAL DASD and REMOVE OLD DRIVE, MOVE NEW
DRIVE TO OLD DRIVE LOCATION and if a GOOD DRIVE was removed to install
new REPLACE GOOD DRIVE back in orginal place.

AGAIN THIS IS ALL DST.

As I mentioned above I don't remember where the options are but with
someone in DST I could walk them through it.

OK, dumb question...

I recall back a while ago when I had my last DASD failure that the CE
was
able to pump from HDA to HDA....the current guy at this client's shop,
says he's not heard of it and that "the only way they're teaching us is
to
pump to tape..." Needless to say it's been a long day, and since he's
not here yet I'm curious as heck if anyone knows the DASD to DASD pump
proceedure.....FORTUNATELY I've not had to putz in that part of SST for
a
while....:)

TIA
