Isee 2 kinds of efficiency in this question. The one I think in view is
machine, but there is also human efficiency. I personally much prefer
separate simultaneously running sessions to group or sysreq jobs. I can
have more things going on at once, I can actually see both, etc. It's an
extension of multiple session dumb terminals.

I agree with Leonid, that the second scenario would take up fewer resouces
on the machine. But productivity definitely includes the human element, so
maybe we need to look at having enough horsepower to support the way we work.

Just some thoughts.
