I'm not sure about a Microsoft solution, but if you have SmartSuite97 and use 
the
custom install option, you can install a text filter for use with WordPro that
will open a FFTDCA document saved in a folder on the AS/400.  You could then use
WordPro to save it in another format that would be compatible with Microsoft
Word.  When you use WordPro to open the document, you will have to tell it the
format to use, but it does work.--
