Pete, if the decision is to stay with RPG36 then you could consider the
code addition of:

    H          Y
    C            UDATE       IFLE   391231
    C            UDATE       ADD    20000000     VDATE       80
    C                        ELSE  
    C            UDATE       ADD    19000000     VDATE
    C                        END 

I've found this to be useful and of limited impact.
