I normally try to humilate people here at work who try to use O specs versus 
DDS, so, sarcastically, that gives me the right to point out some of the things 
that you can do with O specs that require additional coding to use DDS for:
- RPG cycle printing.  While despised by most people who hate not having to do 
everything by hand it does make some programming easier and can be more 
efficient.  I had an extremely simple batch report that went from minutes to 
over an hour when I converted from the RPG cycle into READ statements.
- fetch overflow printing.  Very useful in some applications.
