Yes But shuldn't it be possibly to select the net used (i.e. modem or not) depending on the IPaddress/domain name. For what other use is the file windows\host. ? I believe this is a "feature" of MS Internet Explorer. If you have explorer on this PC, check the VIEW, OPTIONS, CONNECTIONS tab and see if it is set to use a dial up networking definition when you start explorer. If you disable this "feature" that should start your problem. Keep in mind though, that if you disable it, then if you wish to user MS Internet Explorer, you will need to connect manually to your ISP before you start MS Internet Explorer.
