Dear Norbert,

The data stream sample that you appended to your e-mail shows that the AS/400
host print transform function is enabled. This feature converts the data stream
from the AS/400's EBCDIC format to an ASCII equivalence before sending it to
the target printer.

If you turn off the host print transform feature in the target printer's AS/400
device description, you will be able to send AFPDS data to it.

Hope this helps.

/Paul

Subject: SAP R/3 on AS/400 and AFP-Printing

Hello,

anyone out there familiar with SAP R/3 on AS/400 ?
I face a problem in printing from SAP to an AS/400 OutQ using the IBMEPF-Driver
in SAP. The Spoolfile is created, but it cannot be printed, as soon as I start
the print, it will be put on hold with a message in QSYSOPR saying that it
can't be printed.
As I'm not familiar with AFP, my first question is, whether the spoolfile is
really AFP-Data it looks like this:
<data stream sample text removed>
Second what I've found out is, that all spoolfiles use QSYSPRT as printerfile,
which defaults to devicetype *SCS.
So I changed for a test QSYSPRT (the only existing object on the system) to
*AFPDS, but anyway the spoolfiles are created with *SCS.
Does anybody know how to change the Spoolfile in SAP from QSYSPRT and why are
the spoolfiles created with *SCS even the printerfile is *AFPDS ?
Any help is appreciated.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards
