I would use those 7852-400 modems on the 400...(cheap + solid) I would buy Thinkpads or whatever laptops I could and put a PCMCIA Hayes Optima and use either CA/400, MI Remote 5250, or Synapse..... I am sure there will some debate about which software but all of the three mentioned are fairly stable and all provide the same basic emulation.... all though only 2 of the above support autosync, so, I guess the list does narrow down..... If you don't like the above, I would also look at the 5308 which requires nothing more than async modems and whatever pc you have.... Emulation is basic but it works..... You are limited to the number of lines, 7 max per box but for "casual" inquiry by sales force, 7 lines may be enough... again put phone lines in rotary..... Everything else tends to up the $$$$$ so I won't go into all the normal SDLC solutions...... +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
