What size documents are you able to produce and are you using the >table of contents function? I don't know specifically what our writer is doing. She does produce user guides in the size range you mention. I've used TOC in my own work, with Word 95. It's pretty good. It automatically pulls in Heading 1-9 styles, and you can set other entries as needed. I agree that large projects can crap out fast. I strongly suggest _not_ using master documents—unless it actually works in Word 97! I'm now using Corel's WordPerfect 8 at home—came bundled with my newest machine. It's quite good, although not M$. It does, however, understand Word 97 docs. Might be worth a look. Has lots of HTML stuff builtin. Its macro facility is a lot harder to write to, though. Word's uses functions with names based on menu options a lot. WP's functions have no obvious relationship to the menu options (But I could be wrong). There aren't many options in word processing anymore—these are about it, except for Lotus' AMI-successor, of which I know nothing anymore.
