IMO, take a series of programs that you feel very comfortable with and run them
through the ILE conversion to see what shows up.

It's a learning start point.  A way of seeing, once I did this, now it means
that. Or, jee, I can do that? (or I have to go through all that!)

We are a heavy /COPY shop and learned that ILE convert/compile does NOT sort
source types.  Alas, a routine with a "E" spec array just doesn't do a clean
conversion.  But that's OK, it's a part of the learning.  This is how we 
(loudly,
at times) debated what belongs in a service program. I've always loved those
lively debates between with my personal techie purity Dr Jykel fighting the 
demon
of economical reality Mr. Hyde. ;-)
