In all issues of life you get to pick two. EMC covered the cheap and fast. When I have passed this on to others, it's easy to go through a myriad of computer and/or life based examples: Using RUNQRY for production means fast & cheap development. What's the third point? That's what is missing. Same as going to most drive-thrus for lunch. You want something really good and really cheap, the missing point is fast. It takes some shopping. You want something really good and want it NOW, the missing point is cheap. There used to be a TV ad, I think is was for a motor oil, that hit the nail on the head: Pay me now or pay me later. The week and half of OT and down time, when included in the cost of the drives, makes them the higher cost solution. One of the little quips that one of the marketing reps I worked with had to do with something said way back when: One pays for a bargain twice. Once for the bargain. Once again for what you should have gotten.
