Vincent,

We have used the 5853 together with the 7855 with no problems.

Our accounting manager was dialing into our ECS port with the equipment
listed below, at first into a 5853 and then into a 7855.

5853 modem
5294 controller
5291 dumb-terminal

(BTW, the above is available for anyone interested, along with a couple
of 3197 terminals)
