  • Subject: Dial in to ECS port

I'm sure this has been covered here before, but I'm looking for an
inexpensive & reliable way to dial into an ECS port and log in (assuming the
host AS/400 is configured to allow this).

1. Will a Hayes Autosync modem work as well and as reliably as an IBM Sync
modem?

2. Will an IBM 7855 work as well as a 5853, assuming I'm dialing into a 5853?

3. Any ideas where I might find reasonably priced used IBM 7855 or 5853
modems, or an SDLC card to go with them?

Thanks,

- VL
