Price performance ratio? Roy, in my judgement one can not make the "price performance ratio" if one of the solutions being compared is having problems with stability. If you want a cheap, fast machine then that's easy, and its "price/performance ratio" will be glorious. But if you say that all the units being compared must first prove their stability before even being considered, then you have a different equation. One thing I almost never see people do before they make a decision on a platform is to do site visits. It always amazes me how easily the salesman is believed. Why not have your friend go visit 6 or 10 sites he likes? Places that do similar things and are considered successful. He may even find an NT site that is positively great, and can tell him how to get his existing system to fly. I have always visited sites, even competitor's sites, and been given good tours and learned a lot. Also, have you considered visiting user group meetings in the area? -- ----------------------------------------------------------- boothm@ibm.net ----------------------------------------------------------- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
