Al, In a message dated 98-04-05 19:10:22 EDT, you write: <<snip>> > The IR business is cut-throat, and their are many unscrupulous IRs. There > are also many honest ones, but let the buyer beware! Personally, I wouldn't have used the same modifier for _BOTH_ these statements! Perhaps "there are more unscrupulous IR's than honest ones" would have been more appropo. We had a local IR that was known as "Shady (uhhh, in the interest of continued health, a first name that rhymes with Shady)". Anyone in the RTP IBM community for any time at all will know who I'm talking about. > IBM is trying to move as much business from their direct channel to the IR > channel. This improves IBM's income statement by a tiny bit, and is > another part of their business re-engineering, where they are basically > screwing up their business. I've been saying this to them for years, and > they aren't listening. On the other hand I did say that V3R1 should not > have been released (until it was ready), and they didn't listen to that also! Errrrrrrrrrrr! How the IR program has been allowed to continue unabated, while the Agent, BP, and (soon to be) Partners In Development programs got modified to the point where nobody wanted to be a member anymore, I will _NEVER_ understand. PID was _GREAT_ at inception -- encourage small firms to create that "killer app" for the AS/400. Now, after less time than it takes to develop _any_ "app" it's "Hire more people, sell more AS/400's if you want to stay in". The _POINT_ of PID was that the app's would allow _IBM_ to sell more /400's. I guess "no good program goes unpunished"... JMHO, Dean Asmussen Enterprise Systems Consulting, Inc.
