Hello Chris,
Yes.. I have had this happen.  The remedy is to always have a file that you 
built
via DDS and CRTPF (in other words...a legitimate AS400 file) to transfer data to
and fro.  Any time you just send a PC file to an AS400 file and visa-versa that
wasn't built like I mention above it will come over in a unusual manner.  At
least this has been my experience.
