I ran into this same problem when I changed the connection between two systems.  I call IBM and They had trouble with it at first.  The only solution was to copy all Information regarding the *LIN, *CTL, and *DEV. and then delete all of the previous definitions.  Then the only way we could get the 'phantom entry' removed was to IPL the system.  After that I reconfigured all of the proper devices and it was remove.
