Hi Wendy! Is your program actually failing because of this? Or do you see this only when debugging? In certain situations, if a field is never used within a program, RPG may skip generating code to move data from the input buffer to that field. So the field would appear blank when debugging. Another possibility, check if there is a field record relation indicator coded on the input spec for the field. (But does anyone use FRR indicators any more?) We use RPG/400 on V3R2. We've been coding RPG for > 10 years.... Using interactive debug, we see fields being populated properly. We break at the write (to a physical file) and one of the fields is blank. Nowhere in the code is this field being updated between the population and the write. Any suggestions ??
