First off, I think this list is already monitored, and I'm sure that if someone 
gets out of hand with off-topic stuff, they will be
warned, and if need be, ejected by the list administrator(s).  I think they do 
a pretty good job already of keeping the junk to a
minimum.

The biggest problem that I see with posts like the original, is that it spawns 
sooooooo many "inappropriate", "off-topic", "I liked
it", "lighten up", and "get a life" responses.

The occasional off-topic message isn't nearly as bad as the slew of responses 
that inevitably result.

IMHO, it's the responses to off-topic stuff that should be kept off-list.  
Whether you liked it or not, replies should be directed
to the sender, and complaints should be cc'd to the majordomo.

As Dean stated, some people are on per-message or low-bandwidth connections, 
and don't appreciate having too many un-related
downloads.  Posting pans and praises directly to the list makes it even worse.

And I promise I'll never do it again!  :)
