I actually had a client express views like that! Here's one to ponder. The Labor department is proposing to spend $26 Million (USD) on High-Tech (read that computer) jobs. This money is to be used to train unemployed people to become computer programmers! SWELL. Take my hard earned tax dollars, and spend them to create competition for ME! They also want to spend money to promote Programmers as COOL, not geeky. Get a grip. Just because we can code at the MI level, and spend hours on the net, doesn't mean we are geeks!. Ask my wife, or my girlfriend (Just kidding about the GF). Of course, If the Federal Government, under the direction of Daniel P. Moynihan (sp?) had not passed Section 1706 of the Tax Reform Act of 1986, maybe companies would be getting more choice of consultants/contractors at a LOWER rate. For anyone not familiar with 1706, you need to know how such a measure was tacked onto the bill after 2:00a.m. the evening before the bill was voted on. Rumor has it that Computer Dynamics Inc. ot Michigan was one of the groups that pushed for this. It backfired in Houston, as their branch there went belly up soon after the bill was passed. Sorry about the ranting. I get this way around 1040 ES time.
