Also, you can config a V24 port (the same type of comm port your ECS line
uses), as Async and use SLIP.  This allows you to do TCP/IP over a dial up
and is faster (in my opinion) than any of the other options mentioned here.
 It also will support file transfer via FTP, printing via LPD/LPR and
terminal emulation via Telnet (perferably TN5250).
