After moving from my 9348 and 2-3 dozen 1/2" reels to the 3570 and 1 1/2" cartridge, you'll have to pry the 3570 from my cold dead fingers. 3570 cost more than twice my nt server including it's tape drive. But who needs good tape on a system whose quick fix is format and reinstall? All 1/4" restoration osculates whether ibm or anyone else .... good riddance to it and "I can't read the *&#% tape because my heads are too dirty" messages ... imho. Is QIC in this contest? They're cheaper and well yea, cheaper. They can osculate my fdd too. I would use 8mm if I had to. Usually reads it's own tapes when it has to. If anyone really wants to compare big picture IBM technology to NT just try comparing the download speed rates for NT service pack at micro$oft.com to Client Access service pack at ibm.com. or is this difference in speed just on my end? > The reason it's a mistake is simple - NT and lans on paper look much > cheaper. Companies look at the initial total cost - not the cost of the > machine itself. Unfortunately, they do not look at cost of ownership. > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
