Gary,
we've put in a couple of HPs model D640. They run at 40 ipm even when
duplexing.
Connected with twin-ax through I-Data boxes. It took a bit to get them
up and running,
we were the first 400 shop the vendor had installed in.
After a few months use we're fairly happy and have brought in another
one for
network printing.
Input trays hold almost 3 reams, High cap output holds almost twice
this.
We're leasing them on a per impressions basis. They are the cheapest
printers to print
to that we have.
By converting blue-bar to cut sheet, we've reduced report distribution
time by 75%.
We load one of the 640s with plain paper, the other with 3-hole punch
then duplex
as much as the users will let us. It meant changing what they were used
to, but most
of the users now prefer duplex 3-hole laser over their old folded
blue-bar. They use 3-ring
binders now and save themselves lots of desk and shelf space and we're
using less paper.
Laser has given us better quality than impact, and when you crank in
labor and reduced
paper usage it is cheaper too.

HTH
