ODBC returns SQL error

Is anyone familiar with this error I am recieving from an ODBC call from
MS Excel?

SQL0104 - Token * was not valid.  Valid tokens: (<Identifier>).

I am not all that familiar with using ODBC and am trying to download a
simple file to an Excel SS.  What could be causing this error?
