As you mention, RPG is a business oriented language. There are always
exceptions, but where in your day-to-day business operations do you use
random numbers? If you want to talk about business functions that RPG needs
(or needed before RPG/IV) how about the POW or ** function. Ever try doing
interest calculations in RPG? 14^.34 was always fun.

John, you make a good point.  That is the future, no doubt.  But I have
always wondered why RPG, a business oriented program, would have an opcode
for square root but not an rng.

btw, you said "we can create OUR OWN opcodes."  As Tonto said "Where'd you
get 'we' Kemo Sabe?"  I can't yet bind a program, let alone write a C++
program.  It is not a viable choice for me and never will be.

Maybe someone will put together a small set of callable tools just for
these special things?
