As other posts have suggested, you don't need the separate machine for
earlier releases. We, e.g., probably couldn't justify keeping a machine for
testing only that is at an earlier release.

The answer for us is creating objects at the target release and
distributing in save files created for the target release. We've purchased
ALDON's CMS to take care of the details.
