  • Subject: Unable to start data base server.

OK, the IFS was acting kinda buggy. Copied stream files would report
incorrect sizes. Mainly a size of 0 bytes on larger (5+M) files.

I pretty much figured it was a PTF issue. So latest cum (C7252370) was
loaded which provided me with a newer copy of 5763XD1. Went through
the apar's and found several ptf's related to problems with the IFS.
Also found newest service pack for 5763XD1 (SF42728). Downloaded
the service pack and ordered the real ptf. At SF40828 on the 400.

Still have stream file problem, which is really not a problem. Actually
keep stream files on the pc where they belong, but would like to use
400 drives for backup. No big deal.

Data Transfer From AS400 worked fine over tcp/ip until i loaded this
ptf (SF42728). Now I keep getting "Unable to start data base server"
whenever I try to browse the 400. Netsoft still works but is sooo
sloooowww. Unapplied SF42728 but still have this "Unable to start data
base server" window popping up. Still wouldn't be a problem if I had
not have had defined transfers set up as icons on users desktops. Now
I have a problem.

Anyone else had fun with this yet?

TIA
David Nettles
