*HOTCAKES.  A lot of folks delayed their purchase decisions for 97 until
after the August announcements.  The high end of the product line came in
higher than expected, so many people who were maxed at 530s postponed their
buy decision until they evaluated the 640 vs the 650.  

The AS/400 Division hurt themselves by announcing so late.  Rumors for 98's
high announcement are also to be late in the year.  One would think that
the Skinner principle would work better.
