Donald, You replied to Henry, but with my message, so I'm replying. The smallest 400 is the model 150 that should run you 8K for the machine and about 750 for each licensed program (depending on number of users). All totaled, you are looking at 10K for a new system. These are *quick* non-discounted numbers from the pc-based configurator. Also, you asked for the cheapest 400, I can't promise that a 150 would handle you processing needs. -Walden -----Original Message----- From: SCHENCK_DONALD <schencd%AM_LZCH%VASELL@mr.mops.wl.com> To: midrange-L@midrange.com <midrange-L@midrange.com> Date: Friday, November 21, 1997 5:54 PM Subject: AS/400 upgrade costs >>>>Donald, >>>> >>>>If your customer is running on such a small 400 the cheapest thing to do >>>>might be to buy a new shiny RISC 400 running V4R1 and skip V3 altogether. >>>> >>>>-Walden > > >Henry -- > >What does the least expensive AS/400 RISC box cost? > >I'm leaning toward a total rewrite for a PC network, in VB or Java. > >Peace, > >-- Don Schenck >www.SchenckTech.com > >+--- >| This is the Midrange System Mailing List! >| To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". >| To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. >| Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com >+--- >uucp > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
