Just for general information: Finally got Network Stations using Ethernet connection to work, as well as WinCenter Pro runnig PC applications.... A few interesting points before you try this: 1. Think PTF's in large volume.... including Hiper 2. Get up to speed on how to setup TCP on 400 BEFORE you start This issue killed us for a long time( NO TCP skills long learning curve) 3. The manual for installation is NOT very good but will get you through the beginning...(Is published with MONTH in the title) so you need to get the latest one 4. Check APARS at web site,,especially info apars for Net Stations These change often........ 5. If you plan to use WinCenter Pro, be prepared for some long days.... Again, NT was new to us and that caused many problems and reinstalls.... You have to do the normal WinCenter install AND then install a module from IBM that allows you to use IBM net stations(Download from web site) WinCenter out of the box will NOT work with IBM Network Stations.... 6. The marketing material would have you believe that you can just pop any old PC application on NT server and off you go... WRONG.... Not all PC apps will install very well on this platform.... Check Web Site at IBM for sample list of what & how to install.... 7. Get at LEAST one net station with MORE than 8mg... The Network Station Manager WILL NOT RUN on a 8mg machine..... and you have to access this to set various options.... 8. The list goes on and on but these are our major high & low lights.... It does work & the users are getting used to it now and I really believe it is a good concept... I think you are going to see a LOT more of this product.... By the way.... it's pretty wild to see a 400 and pc app screen up at the same time, knowing that each screen is running on DIFFERENT machines at the same time...... I had 3 5250 sessions and Lotus Word running on same screen last night.... really strange to see...... If i could just get these folks to buy a 390 & a RS6000, we could see some really wild stuff.... +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe MIDRANGE-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
