Using "substr" to update in SQL is a breeze. Although we are currently at
V3R7, I'm sure I've
done it at earlier releases.

UPDATE library/file
SET field1 = substr(field2,start,length) -- length is an optional parameter

Subject: Substring in SQL update

Is there a way to use substr when updating with SQL (at v2r3m0 -- we're
a tad behind the times yet)? The manual tells how to select using
substr, but not to update or set.

Thanks in advance!
