Gary,
you can get a ton of information off IBM's web sites.
For a great overview the "AS/400e series System Handbook"
is at http://AS400BKS.rochester.ibm.com:/  (the link is near
the bottom of the page).

If you want more, try going to IBMLink at
http://www1.ibmlink.ibm.com/
click on the United States link.
>From there under InfoLink are links to the
"IBM Announcement Letters" and 
"SalesManual - IBM Hardware and Software Product Descriptions".
The announcement letters from August have the information
about the "e" boxes including different features and upgrade
paths.

If they have it I get the PDF format of the documents. If not I
try to get PostScript format and copy it straight to a printer.
