Jeff, Heard this before ? It depends. What do you want to do with it ? If I remember correctly, most WYSE are in the VT100 - 102 family. Messing with the keyboard mapping on a VT* is a pain. But, if you can get a TN5250 session started on the UNIX box and the 400 is running TCP/IP, you're most the way there including the keyboard mapping. On another hand, you need to look reliability and costs. What kind of support do they have to keep it running ? The UNIX box can be an added point of failure and complexity. Since you present the possibility of replacement, is the UNIX box being used for anything else ? If not, does your client have it on maintenance ? New terminals might cost less then what the UNIX box costs to keep running. Don't you hate it when someone answers a simple question with more questions ?
