  • Subject: RE: TCP/IP device names (was Changing subsytem sign-on)

Vernon,
this is from the beta FAQ :

"TCP/IP Enhancements
Ability to run PC5250 Printer Emulation directly over
           TCP/IP.
Ability to assign a device ID to a 5250 workstation.
Ability to specify the user id and password only once and
avoid the Sign On screen on subsequent requests.

Note: These TCP/IP enhancements require host OS/400
changes also; therefore these functions will NOT be
           available in the Beta. "

Based on this, to make use of these functions the next CA release
will need to be coordinated with a change in OS/400 either
through PTF or upgrade to 4.2 .

Hope this clarifies why I told Gary he "may need 4.2".
