I think I should have said 'SCS printer file', not 'SCS printer'. And I agree, line printers probably can't handle overlays. But there are some SCS fullpage types, aren't there? I'm home on vacation so don't have access to our 400, and the Online Library web site is so busy I can't get on. Check the CRTPRTF/CHGPRTF help—there are parameters for overlays, and these are the AFP-type *OVL object. The use of this probably depends on printer type and model settings. Also, Host Print Transform can convert stuff to many kinds of native streams, but those are almost all ASCII-type printers. Might work if fast enough, though. I feel it's awfully hard to get good info from IBM on AS/400 printing that goes beyond the 'good old days' *SCS kind of stuff. AFP training is limited to mainframes, e.g. Does this fit with your experience?
