I do not use it often and only when I completely understand the environment and risks. If there is a risk, then that is taken into account. However, in these cases, I do know what updates and what just uses it. I do know what the outside uses are. I am not recommending this as a casual or common practice. I do not know how you decided that I must be from a small account. In the case I specifically mentioned, it was a large shop with a CMS and multiple AS/400s. The biggest consideration was not how to get the programs compiled, but rather the resources required to compile and disseminate the programs. Like Art, I don't intend to follow up on this anymore. I'm not going to change your mind and you are not going to change mine. I can live with that.
