Date data types in DSPF's & PRTF's -- MIDRANGE-L

Jon Paris (of IBM) mentioned on this list that IBM is working on
supporting the date data types in externally described DSPF's & PRTF's. 
Anyone have any more info. on this?  When, where, how, etc.?
