Note - you only see the 28 address restriction on the first PCI-bus MFIOP with twinax. This is a NEW adapter that did not exist before. The old SPD-bus systems still support 40 addresses on base twinax adapter. This adapter supports only 4 twinax ports (so you can't attach 40 - or 56) and a WAN line (ie. ECS comm. line). You can add additional #2722 PCI Twinax Workstation I/O Adapters than have 8 ports (can connect 56 devices, only 40 active). For the traditional 'book' cards (SPD Bus) that you can have on the model 620 you have the #6180 Twinax Workstation I/O Adapter (also 8 ports, 56 connections, 40 active). The #6180 plugs into a #2629 LAN/WAN/Thank You Man (or maybe it's a LAN/WAN/Workstation) IOP. (The 2629 is similar to the old 2623 6-line comm adapter, that could have 3 daughter IOA's plugged into it for various comm configs, except the 2629 allows a mix of LAN/WAN & Workstation IOA's). Note - if you need two comm lines on a PCI bus machine, you could select the base #9721 Two-Line WAN adapter (no Twinax at all) and then add a single #2722 PCI Twinax IOA for up to 40 active twinax addresses. -- ...
