In message <3415A1C3.7E8E@usaor.net>, From Tim Truax <truax@usaor.net>, the following was written: > C PARM X$YYYY 40 <--4 pos/0dec Tim, You've defined a 3 byte packed data object here. I'll bet (not a lot though) that you're passing it a zoned data structure subfield. You can confirm this by inducing the error and then looking at X$YYYY with debug or dumping the program and looking at the report. My rule of thumb for numeric parameters is whenever possible, pass packed values. Use a construct like: In the calling program: * Always defines a packed variable C *LIKE DEFN DSVALU P@VALU * Storage format of DSVALU doesn't matter C PARM DSVALU P@VALU In the called program C *LIKE DEFN DSVALU P@VALU C DSVALU PARM P@VALU Or if it's an in/out parameter: C *LIKE DEFN DSVALU P@VALU C DSVALU PARM DSVALU P@VALU It's not all that mysterious. You just need to be aware of the storage format. hth Pete -- - Pete Hall peteh@earth.inwave.com http://www.inwave.com/~peteh/ +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe MIDRANGE-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
