John:

I've been using an "add-on" print package, since you can't configure the
emulation printing provided with CA for TCP/IP.

Check out http://www.netinst.com They have a trial version of their
NIPrint program, which provides a TCP/IP print capability. On the AS/400
side, you configure a Remote OUTQ, then use STRRMTWTR to the printer
(actually to your PC's TCP/IP address). On the PC side, you configure
the NIPrint package with the name of a "printer", which the STRRMTWTR
command refers to.

I'm using this to print to an HP LJIII, and it is fast! The printer
starts just about simultaneously with the spool file going into the
output queue.

Another alternative is http://www.brooksnet.com They also have a trial
version of a TCP/IP print program.

I went with NIPrint, since it was $34, I think Brooksnet is about $99.
However, you might want to look at both. Brooksnet might have some
features that you want or need.
