Chuck, The primary reasons that PC disks are so much cheaper is the quantity in which they're made. "Millions" of PC drives are manufactured every day, far more than the number of AS/400 drives. The AS/400 drives also have additional microcode in them for diagnostics, etc. > -----Original Message----- > From: Chuck Lewis [SMTP:clewis@iquest.net] > Sent: Thursday, August 21, 1997 3:34 PM > To: Midrange List > Subject: Explaing the difference in PC vs AS/400 disk... $$$$$$ > > Hi Folks, > > I'm looking for a way to provide a non-technical person (at a VERY > high > level in the company) a "bullet" list (i.e. not a bunch of technical > detail, etc.) as to why PC disks are so much cheaper than AS/400 > disks. > > > ----------------------------- > Greg Thielen > Magellan Software > gthielen@magsoft.com > http://www.magsoft.com > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com". | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MAJORDOMO@midrange.com | and specify 'unsubscribe MIDRANGE-L' in the body of your message. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
